MKR: Manu and Clarissa’s Wedding

We’ve been keeping it a secret for so long, and now we can finally talk about it!!

A few months ago I was approached by my friend Adam, from the Elandra Resort in Mission Beach, he needed a hair and makeup artist for an upcoming wedding and he thought I was the best man for the job. I didn’t know who it was for but because it was for a Monday I figured why not? When I found out the date (end of January… the hottest week in TNQ) my first thought was “F**k… it’s going to be hot!!”..

It was only a week after I got back from my holiday in the Sunshine Coast. The big day was approaching fast, Caitlin told me who’s wedding it was but said I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone!!! (She knows what I’m like with keeping secrets…) Monday the 22nd arrived, it was the first day back to school so we got the kids off nice and early, then Caitlin, Mariella and I hit the road to the beautiful Mission Beach for the day. We arrived at about 11am, the humidity was not yet at its full peak but I could feel it was coming….

We arrived at the brides room, Clarissa and her then husband to be popped his head around the door.. it was Manu Feildel from My Kitchen Rules!!! We said our introductions and hello’s then we sent him on his way so we could work our magic with Clarissa, who by the way was so beautiful and such a lovely person. The whole experience was perfect, Clarissa had her entourage of her sister, her best friend and her niece. We met her mother, mother in law and her father and last of all her crazy brother who burst in the room playing Bruno Mars super loud on his UE Boom to get the party started.

The wedding was small and intimate… just beautiful. Manu was so cool and friendly, just how you see him on TV. We got our photo taken with the bride and groom then left them to enjoy their night. If I could have changed anything it would only be that our visitors could’ve experienced the full potential of The Elandra Resort on a stunning Tropical North Queensland winters day without the 10000% humidity… but I must say it was still quite magic all the same.  The story has been printed in the latest issue of New Idea where our hair and makeup skills are showcased across a 5 page spread. Be sure to get yourself a copy otherwise we do have an issue at Divine that you can read while you’re getting your hair done ;).
