Divine Daze S19 E04

Episode 4 of Daze…. well we dodged a bullet with Cyclone Debbie, but as usual everyone went crazy with all the premature hype and cleared out the supermarkets. Luckily for us it went further south and it looks like Bowen, Airlie Beach and The Whitsundays copped the worst of it. Definitely feel for everyone in those areas as we know what it’s like after being through Yasi and Larry, 2 of the worst Cyclones on record.

The first School holidays for the year have started and Easter is just around the corner. I am currently away this week coming back on Thursday 6th April. We will be closing Good Friday the 14th April and commencing trade on Tuesday 18th April. So if you want any hairdo’s before Easter be sure to book in early as it will fill up fast.

Time For colour

Ever since the introduction of the balayage technique, it has been one of the most asked about colour. Now while it looks great in the Instagram shots on celebrities and Pinterest pictures, what you don’t know is the length of time, blood sweat and tears it takes to achieve that colour. For many of you who have asked for a balayage colour or even a lightening service you know it takes a long time (almost up to 4-5hrs in one sitting!) but many newbies to the lightening world don’t. We all want beautiful hair but you can’t rush perfection.

Now picture this: You’ve been buying a ‘brown’ box colour from the supermarket for $12.95 for the last 4 years- that’s so cheap right! Every time you apply the colour- you apply roots to ends. Now that’s 4 years’ worth of colour build up which eventually turns into black dried frizzy unhealthy hair. One day you decide that’s it I’m going blonde like Kim Kardashian did. You bring the picture in and I have mini heart attack… I quickly regain myself and smile and tell you that’s going to be a yearlong process with no guarantee of what colour lies underneath and a lot of $$$. Not something you may have been expecting…

If you are thinking “ but I really want to be lighter” then by all means come in and see us we are more than happy to help, but remember it’s a journey we must go through together so be prepared to listen to us and take our advice.

Mariella Fashion week

Some very exciting news to start off the year, we had our little Mariella hit the bright lights of the big city and attend the Myer AW Fashion Launch. Last year Mariella attended The Kevin Murphy Session Styling Course in Melbourne. The course consisted of four one day training events involving in Depth Kevin Murphy product knowledge, a fashion show briefing, Kevin Murphy Tools & styling. On Completion Mariella graduated and was rewarded with a “Gold Key” making her a “Kevin Murphy Gold Key Stylist”.

Kevin Murphy is the Official Hair Partner for the Myer Fashion Launch in Melbourne, and as a Gold Key Stylist Mariella was selected to attend this event earlier in February. So Mariella set off to Melbourne, she started briefing for the launch at 6am, And then it was on!! There were about 4 stylists working on each model to get her back out on that runway. My friend and photographer Wade Lewis got some amazing photos for us. Such a cool opportunity for our apprentice to work on the runways of Melbourne. She has already been asked to attend the next one but we can’t have her running off to Melbourne all the time, ha-ha . She had such a great experience that I have no doubt she will attend many more.

My TV Show for this episode is Billions, it’s a series on Stan and it’s the story of an Attorney whose wife works for a Billionaire, and she is caught in the middle as they constantly at war trying to out manoeuvre each other in the world of New York High Finance.
