Divine Daze S19 E01

Divine Daze S19 E01

Well I’m back!

After what felt like one of the craziest Christmas weeks ever… I know it wasn’t because I have not been drinking. Luckily the team kept the spirit alive in my abstinence. We all managed to hang around Christmas Eve to finish of the champagne as usual. It was a great feeling to have that Christmas Buzz in the salon, I want to thank you all for your business before Christmas and all throughout 2016 and a big thankyou to all of you who took the effort to bring in gifts for us. I trust you all had an enjoyable holiday season and I’m really looking forward to seeing you all in 2017.

I took some much needed time off in Melbourne and the Gold Coast, I think that’s the longest break I’ve had in quite a few years. A big thank you to Lee who got up at 4.30am to take me and the kids to the airport where we flew into what felt like Melbourne’s hottest day – ever. The family Christmas was fantastic!! Most of Dad’s blood relations were there, but it was just too hot to really relax. On the way home we dropped into see the Murphy’s “Kevin and Luis” which was a lot cooler and together we watched the sunset.

Then it was up early the next day for my gig on the door “security” For the Boxing Day sale madness at Miss Louise – one last frantic day and half before our holiday really set in. After a relaxing 10 days in Melbourne we all went up to the Gold Coast for another week. I was so impressed with what they are doing as they are getting ready to host the Commonwealth Games. It has really been cleaned up with lots of new infrastructure. I loved the Tram. The place really feels like a city now and I caught up with lots of old colleagues and friends from my time there back in 89-90. The kids took me to Movie World and Wet ‘n’ Wild!! Frankie made me go on all the scary rides until the green lantern finished me.

Kevin has some new products launching early this year and as always he spoiled me and let me have some samples to try. Smooth Again wash and rinse will be replacing the luxury range and a new product, Repair Me Leave in is amazing!! Frankie was using it as soon as she got out of the pool when we were on holidays and it made her hair feel amazing.

Since I’m always speaking of my favourite TV series and movies I thought I would add a new segment this season… my tips on series and movies to watch. One of my favourites on Netflix is “The Crown” so far only 1 season in, it’s the story of Queen Elizabeth ii. It’s a great little history lesson on the monarchy of England, a good binge watch for the wet weeks. Another good one is “The Tunnel”, It’s based on the original Swedish series called “The Bridge”. if you like crime thrillers this one will really get you thinking, it’s really well done.

New Website

We are currently in the process of revamping our website and before the end of the year my friend Wade Lewis, who is a photographer in Melbourne and my old school friend, set up a photo shoot in the salon. He photographed us while we were all getting ready for our staff party, then we had some profile pictures done with all the lights and reflectors and the blow dryer going like they do for the models on set, it was so much fun. While I was away the girls kept the salon running between Christmas and New Year. The New Year started off with a photo shoot for my friend who has Lantaka, a Morrocan homewares and living store located in Stratford. The girls started early on a Monday morning and created some amazing hairstyles for the shoot and stayed on scene all day. The shots look amazing I’m so proud of the work they put in, there are a few sneak peaks from behind the scenes on our Facebook and Instagram.

On the Village Green

Fixx Café should be open, or opening (formerly Coffee Shots) real soon, the NOA idea fell through and a really nice staff member from our friendly grocer swooped in and saw the need for a traditional café in Edge Hill… something everyone has really missed since Café 88 and Coffee Shots finished up. I’m looking forward to simple food in the area, everything has become so ‘tricky’, but when you get it is well… the taste experience is just less than average. Haruka remains my stable lunch destination since Matt at 88 sold to Curry Pizza… I might add the pizza comes in handy for our Thursday night late trading. The Bosnic boys have bought back the friendly grocer and they seem to have settled straight back in, once again Edge Hill has had some big changes, but this time I have a really good feeling about it all.

So that’s all from me for the first episode of Season 19 of Divine Daze, it’s a bit late this month but we will be back on schedule next month.

Like Shampoo through the hour glass, these are the Divine Daze.
